Change as a Catalyst for Transformation

People bandy the word ‘change’ from issues that are personal, to bigger issues that concern an organization or a Country. What does it mean to enable a change that would result in a glaring transformation of whatever we want?

The word change normally refers to new beginnings. But transformation, often happens when something falls about not when something new begins. The sacrifice that transformation requires needs for deep reflection. It forces a person to seek new ways of doing things because the old way is limiting, or something will fall apart if one doesn’t not make new changes.   If the possibility of loosing something is not the motivation, then most of us will stay in the comfort zone – even if it hurts a bit. You need to get to a place where you feel emptiness, loss, pain, hurt to a decree that you are ready to do anything to make things new.

Transformation usually includes a disconcerting reorientation. Change can either help people to find a new meaning, or it can cause people to close down and turn bitter. The difference is determined by the quality of your inner life, what we call your “spirituality.” Change of itself just happens; but spiritual transformation must become an actual process of letting go, living in the confusing dark space for a while, and allowing yourself to be spit up on a new and unexpected shore. Change is necessary when you want to move from one level to another or else you will be stuck in a situation that could cause you great grief or cause things not to function very well.

In the Bible, perhaps that is what Jesus was describing when he said, “It is a narrow gate and a hard road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:14). Jesus knew how much letting go of habits can take. When you feel the need for change, you will patience, support and the enablement to let go instead of tightening your control, in some circumstances, or denying yourself in some.
